Unbelievable Lens Categories Now Available!
Squidoo has now gone live with their new lens categories… and blimey… there are hundreds of them!
You can choose from topics as broad as “Entertainment and Media” and as specific as “History of Atheism and Skepticism”. They’ve done a brilliant job.
The hard part for us (if you have a lot of lenses) is logging in with the task of re-categorizing everything. I have almost 1000 lenses to organize!
The new categories will help squidoo group related lenses together more easily, so they should do better in search engines (greater relevance) and also get visitors reading more pages per visit. So don’t skip the task if you want more popular lenses!
I wonder what’s coming next out of the Squidoo offices…

P.S. A few people have asked me why I haven’t written about the monsters and badges you can now earn on Squidoo. It’s because they won’t fill your bank account!

You’ll need to log in and you’ll see a message at the top about a bulk category tool. It’s a handy tool, but not as quick as it could be.
But 100 won’t take you too long
Lewis, this is one time I’m glad I don’t have a bazillion lenses! I finished categorizing my 200-and-something yesterday and it was quite a job! I’m excited, though, about the new categories and agree that Squidoo did an amazing job putting the list together. With going on two million lenses now, grouping lenses by similar topic will be a wonderful improvement.
It’s features like this I wish they had implemented right from the start! How long did 200 take you?

Lewis, long time no see! How have you been? Popped in to say that I think the categories are swell – much needed actually. I have a lot of lenses now and trying to find them was getting frustrating!
Been meaning to ask – where can I get a cool cartoon rendering of myself?
I made mine using an iPhone app called AvatarCreator! It’s super good and only cost about $1
You’ll also find some good options by searching fiverr.com for the word Cartoon!
