I had avoided doing the Twitter thing, just like I never did facebook.

You convinced me. I’ve set up an account (easy), and I’m making sure only an occasional tweet is the Squidoo auto tweet. The rest of the time you’ll have to put up with hearing about cool stuff that’s happening.

I tend to ‘publish’ lenses several times in one editing session – so I could easily see this getting out of control for me. I think I’d better stick to manually promoting my stuff.

I think it’s cool that they’ve done this, but I’m worried that it turns Twitter into a one-way dump of link. People will be posting tweets without reading anyone elses. It’s not social if everyone does this.

WAY COOL!

Naturally, anything that gets abused is gonna cause problems for the site as a whole. Hopefully, that won’t happen. (crossing fingers)

I think Twitter is an awesome tool. I like the Squidoo Twitter module. However, I see a problem. As I have just one Twitter account and many lenses. Not every tweet I send is going to be appropriate for every lens. Yet, every tweet I send is going to show up in every lens with a Twiiter module. How do you solve this problem? Do you set up many Twitter accounts and have just one topic per discussion per account?

@Frankie – Twitter is VERY fast to register with. And you don’t really need to do anything other than get your username and password and set your bio and pic before you start using Squidoo’s new twitter thing. So you could maybe move it up your list a teeny bit. Maybe to just above ’sleeping’

@Tiffany – I do the buildmylens.com one using the wordpress plugin called TwitterTools. It automatically tweets about your latest blog posts. So when I blog about the lenses (at the buildmylens blog), they send to twitter automatically! Also, I quite like the title ‘Oh Mighty Squid Genius’…

Sound like good news and bad news to me. The good news is that it will help get the information out about our lenses and help increase traffic, thus page rank, etc.

The bad news is I now have to join Twitter — another thing to add to my top 1000 things to do. I’m sure it’s not fast and easy but so are most of the items on my top 1000 To Do List. My list is elastic, my time is not! ;-D
