Tagging Tricks: Adding Tags From Your Stats
It’s good to know where your visitors are coming from, and with the stats upgrade Squidoo HQ gave us it is possible to see exactly what a person typed into google before they arrived at your lens.
And there is also a rather cool use for those stats!
You can automatically add those words and phrases to your lens as tags. To help more people find your lens.
Like this:
- Open a new window right now and go to your Squidoo Lens Dashboard. Or click here to automatically open it in a new window.
- Now click ‘Stats’ to the right of one of your lenses.
- Now click the ‘Traffic’ tab under the title of your lens. And now you will see a page that looks like this:

If you don’t see anything like the image above, then your lens isn’t getting any visitors from search engines. You can fix this by adding useful unique content to your lens.
See the cross the arrow is pointing at? That arrow shows up next to each word or phrase that you DON’T have as a tag on your lens.
If you click the cross, it will get added as a tag!
Don’t go crazy, only add really relevant ones, and remember to re-publish your lens for the tags to show up!

I also use this information to know what to put more of in my lens. If I’m getting hits for a certain phrase, or search term. I try to make sure people will get the info they’re looking for when they go to the lens.

Thanks for showing how much traffic is possible with a Squidoo lens. I need to add more content.

Good thinking, Linette! See what visitors your lens is pulling in, and give them more of what they’re searching for.
Fefe, well spotted

Nice tips, as always. Fix the url of buildmylens.com at the end of the article, the “d” is missing.
