Wow, Lewis. This is good. Glad you made this post. Part of the reason why I leaned toward one over the other is because I literally thought Squidoo an Hubpages were rivals.

But I see the use of maximizing both for making money as well as linking and gaining traffic. That’s awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing that. I think I will check out Hubpages today and see how different it is from Squidoo. Frankly I love how easy it is for me to create pages or lenses on Squidoo.

I am a member of Hubpages and I can say we can really earn from there. I’ve been a member for 2 years but been active for just 4 months. I’m expecting my first check from google next month and most of my earnings there are from Hubpages. Signed up with Squidoo more than a year ago but just made my first lens 2 days ago. So, I can say I’m still a neophyte with Squidoo. I will be writing for both as I read many good reviews about the two. Thanks for the comparison and it’s very helpful. Here is my Hubpages profile:

I use both Squidoo and HubPages. I think the main difference between the two is this:

SQUIDOO–you can write about or insert more commercial items and more commercial links. Have earned more money here than Hub. Forums seem to be “all business” and not so social.

HUBPAGES–only a couple direct links for commercial purposes per Hub. Hub is more about the “writing of an article” than the “selling with an article”. Also,(hate to say this–my personal experence only) Hub has lots more friendly people there who interact with each other on a daily basis.

nice post, lewis. i’ve been looking into this lately for a new site i’m developing. i pretty much understand how you get referrals for driving traffic to a specific hub. haven’t figured out how to get credit for referring someone to sign up at hubpages. i know you can help me with that.

I finally set up my first hub recently. I also felt a little “guilty” about using Hubpages, but I’ve started building niche sites, and now it’s all about getting some good backlinks, and hubpages does a great job of it, just like Squidoo.

Now I’m using both and it feels good.

Good to know about the referral payout, I didn’t realize that. That sounds like it could be pretty lucrative. Thanks for the info.

I’ve signed up for hubpages and had my account for a while. I’ve done nothing with them – I don’t have one hub made. But, it’s on my list… really it is!

The transition from squidoo to hubpages has been a little rough actually. You’re right, it’s like rooting for a different team
