How (and Why!) to Add a Poll to Your Lens

This one is super easy.

Adding a poll to your lens.

But why would you WANT to add a poll to your lens?

For these reasons:

  • To find answers to questions you have about your topic (What’s your favourite color?)
  • To add INTERACTIVITY! To get your visitors to buy something (the ultimate interaction with your lens), you should first try and get them to interact with you and your lens in a smaller way. A poll is ideal.
  • They can earn you affiliate commissions (more on that in another post).
  • They look cool, and when your total number of votes start racking up.. the poll results show your visitors that your lens is the place to be! I have a poll with over 1700 votes. Anyone voting on it and seeing that total knows they are on a path travelled by many others. And my lens is more trusted because of that.
  • Because they look cool!
  • They’re really easy to set up, and can break up your blocks of content quite nicely.

So now you know why you might want to add a poll, here is how:

  1. Enter the workshop for your lens, so you can edit stuff.
  2. Click ‘Add Modules’ top left.
  3. Click the A-Z tab in the middle of the page.
  4. Click P, and add your poll!

    You missed another reason, which I will phrase carefully - there are some Lensmasters who say that having a poll will increase you Lenrank. This does actually make sense; if you have a Lens which encourages interactivity from its visitors, then the Lenrank will naturally increase. Its like having a guestbook…

    I left out the lensrank element on purpose! lol I’m trying not to focus on lensrank at all here.

    Thats funny. I WAS right. I had a feeling to add a poll or so to my lenses. I added them just today.
