What happens if your site doesn’t have a RSS feed installed. You want to update your twitter account with the title of the page and a tiny url?

Is this possible? is this with the API? Anyone have examples. Everything I have read it for Blogs blogs and more blogs. No one seem to have examples from just a normal html webpage.

Surely this is out there?

@JaguarJulie and @Susan52 – I’ve not had that rss ‘feature’ happen to me! I love yahoopipes.com for manipulation rss feeds – that would solve it. What site was it that sent ALL your rss feed items?

@Kate – I definitely agree with the Direct Messages! I really don’t like DMs.

Hi Lewis-

I don’t like to automate receiving followers because I like to pick and choose my followers.

Plus I don’t like to receive automatic DM’s so I don’t send them.

I carry my iPhone and whenever inspired, I tweet! My favorite iPhone Twitter App is Tweetie–It works beautifully!!

I had the same experience as Julie, spamming Twitter with a ton of blog posts when I signed up on a particular site. I’m really careful now about not opting into automatic tweets. Maybe I’m just a control freak, but I like to know exactly what’s going out, when, why, and what it says. I also don’t automatically follow back since I get a ton of spam Twitterers following me and I don’t want to increase their follower numbers since they don’t deserve it. I do like the idea of scheduling tweets, though, and really must look into that. (Adding it to my to-do list now.)

Nice post, Lewis. I’ll look into TweetAdder as well.

Hi there Lewis! Some great tips. May I just mention a quick note to be careful with those automized twitter feeds as once upon a time, I had set up some lenses in such a site that will automatically tweet for you. However, there was a bug that sent ALL of my tweets at one time to twitter making it look like –well– spam! Guess I’ve got cold feet now about setting up too many different tweets to automatically be sent at certain times.

BTW, yes, what is up with those people who follow you and then when you are following them back, they unfollow? Why bother is what I ask.
