Write a Lens-Specific Lensmaster Bio

When I first discovered Squidoo I spent the first few moments on every lens I looked at reading the bio of the lensmaster who made it.
I was fascinated.
It really was one of the things I read first on a lens. Right after the title. Even before the introduction!
Writing a bio specific to each lens is [...]

How and Where to Sell Your Lens

Did you know there are some lensmasters who will buy your lens from you?
Why? Because they know they can do something with it, because they know the lens will earn adsense income each month, and because they are absolutely obsessed with Squidoo. The highest price paid for a lens (as of June 29th 2007) is [...]

Making Your Lens Pics Look AMAZING

I’ve made a lens about this, with the same title, but I’m putting it here to so it’s easy to find.
Basically, an image with straight edges looks rubbish on your lens, just like the tiger on the left below. It looks like you’ve just plonked an image there because you had to.
Well now you can [...]

Start a Lensography

Do you have more than 3 lenses?
Make a lensography!
A lensography is a lens that has only 1 purpose: to show off your other lenses!
There are lots of lensographies on Squidoo, each one doing a good job of showcasing either all of someone’s lenses, or just their best.
Mine is here: www.squidoo.com/lewisography
I have just featured some of [...]

Re-Order Your Dashboard Lens List

If you want to re-order your list of lenses on your dashboard based on visitor numbers, amount $$ pending, star rating, title, lensrank, or date last updated, all you need to do is click the title of that column.
The dashboard (at this moment) doesn’t give any clue that this is possible, but it still works.
This [...]

Using-Hyphens-In-Your-Lens-URL (for Google AND visitors)

You know when you create a lens you get to choose what URL you want? (what’s a URL? Basically, the address of a page).
You get to choose whatever goes where these X’s are: www.squidoo.com/XXXXXXX
It is largely agreed upon that having hyphens separating words is a good thing, as far as your google ranking is concerned.
Hyphens-as-opposed-to-underscores.  [...]

Allowing Readers To Contact You (without revealing your email address)

When surfing around loads of different lenses every day it seems that whenever I want to send a lensmaster a note about something, they don’t have any way to be contacted!
There is an easy way, and you don’t have to reveal your email address to anyone. Not even to the spammers, and not even to [...]

How to insert an image (and have text wrap around it)

You know you can add an image to your lens using a normal text module? Did you know you can embed an image into the module without that upload feature? On the left side of the module?
Click here to see an example.
To embed an image into the module just like the one you [...]

How To Add A Banner To Your Lens

Have you seen a lens with a banner in one of the modules?
Although the effectiveness of banner ads has fallen to an all time low (with text links taking the lead), you may have a banner you just REALLY want to display.
Whatever the reason, here is how to insert a banner ad into a Text [...]

6. Understanding The Long Tail (and how it helps your lens)

A Long Tail keyword is something that, instead of being a keyword like ‘myspace’, is a keyword like ‘is myspace free to use in china’.
In short, Long Tail means that the majority of your lens visitors likely come from people typing in things that very few people type in compared to the search terms that [...]
